Emotions

I think I can identify with all the different perspectives on emotions which are: physiological, perceptual and social.  I think emotions are the product of physiological stimuli, perception and social groups.  When there are certain stimuli present in our lives we experience different emotions associated with them.  For example, when we see babies we have a warm feeling associated with it and when we see a car accident we have caring feelings associated with that event.  These emotions are instinctual and are beyond our control.  However, other emotions come from our perceptions of different stimuli.  Some people may associate Christmas with a happy feeling because they receive presents.  Others may associate Christmas with sad feelings because family get togethers include fighting.  The society and community can influence whether we have bad or good emotions toward different stimuli as well.  For example, there are certain religious communities who hate homosexual people.  People who are part of these religions hate homosexual people just because they are associated with this certain cultural group.  Emotions can come in all different forms.

  1. I totally agree with you Bee Westlake. Emotions are a result of stimuli as you mentioned in your post, which are triggered with an event. Emotions can be positive and negative depending on the situation. I like the way you wrote how people associate Christmas with happy and sad memories depending on their experience with their families. I also do not like the unethical propaganda of some people materializing the religious faith of followers and misguiding them with self-indicted norms such as hatred towards homosexuals and gay rights. I think everyone has the right to express his emotions of love and affection towards the person of their choice be it man or woman
